Homogeneous data for reliable noise protection

Homogeneous data for reliable noise protection

Monitoring road traffic noise is a complex task that requires detailed and reliable data. Whether for legal compliance, long-term strategies or the targeted planning of mitigation measures, the quality of decision-making depends directly on the quality of the data and the underlying models. In practice, this is often where the greatest challenges arise. Incomplete datasets, varying data quality and the large volume of available geodata complicate many projects. How can these challenges be addressed through the right combination of automation and professional expertise? The key lies in targeted data homogenisation and the semi-automated creation of comprehensive noise models, supported by the specialist expertise of engineers.

SonRAIL and SLIP: When Technology Creates Calm

Noise is one of the most significant burdens in the vicinity of railway lines. For local residents, it means restless nights and a reduced quality of life. For project managers, noise is a sensitive factor that influences the acceptance of a project and helps determine how smoothly approval procedures run. Anyone planning railway infrastructure today must not only measure noise, but understand it, assess it proactively and reduce it effectively. This is exactly where G+P comes in.
Recycling low-noise SDA asphalt

Recycling low-noise SDA asphalt

Over the past years, several hundred kilometres of highly effective low-noise SDA 4 road surfaces have been constructed across Switzerland. Many of these sections are now approaching an age at which replacement will soon be required. One aspect has so far received little attention: these specialised surfaces cannot be recycled as easily as conventional road materials. This issue will become increasingly relevant in the coming years. By 2030, more than 200,000 tonnes of SDA material are expected to arise and will need to be reused in a technically sound manner.

Grolimund + Partner creates added value in all areas of its offering.

We are leaders in our specialist areas of outdoor noise, road surface acoustics, building physics, software and research & development. We provide high-quality services and develop solutions that benefit people and the environment.

Thank you Toni – 32 years at G+P

At this year’s summer event in Thun, Toni celebrated his last official working day at Grolimund + Partner – in glorious weather, together with the team, on and around Lake Thun. A fitting setting for a special moment: the conclusion of 32 years filled with heart, wisdom and commitment
One year of communicating values

One year of communicating values

In January 2024, as "The New Boss", I explained in a video statement what is important to us and to me at G+P. After almost a year as the new CEO, it's time for a little look back. Our values take centre stage. Values are a key success factor, especially for SMEs like us.

«Thanks to G+P, I have the opportunity to develop my skills in a dynamic and friendly professional environment. The projects I'm involved in are varied and stimulating, offering the chance to make tangible improvements to the daily lives and quality of life of many people by protecting them from noise pollution.»

«I have been with G+P AG for over 20 years. I appreciate the good cooperation and the lively exchange of information in the team. I can contribute my extensive practical construction knowledge and experience to the team, on the construction sites, when problems arise or in the event of construction damage. The knowledge gained from construction damage is passed on as an ongoing learning process within the team. As of October 2022, I will be partially retired and will continue to work at G+P AG with a workload of 40%. I spend a lot of time in the mountains (climbing, ski touring) as compensation.»

«Noise pollution reduces the quality of life of those who suffer from it. My goal is to reduce them as much as possible – G+P provides me with the means to do this. Street noise and shooting noise - I have been able to develop in these areas thanks to the skills acquired in a dynamic, friendly and stimulating working environment.»

«Working with and for different clients allows me to gain insight into a wide variety of fields of activity. At G+P itself, we work in interdisciplinary teams across the various specialist areas to find solutions. The focus is often on the goal of providing more peace and quiet for the population. I also really appreciate the fact that I can work in several branches and at home, and that the PC-heavy work is always broken up by measurement work outside with the CPX drivers, alone and with office colleagues.»

«At G+P, I appreciate the broad and exciting field of activity at the interface between outdoor noise and software development. Thanks to further training supported by G+P, I can specifically take on new challenges in GIS and data modeling. In addition, the flexible working hours model allows a compatibility with the family.»

«At G+P, I appreciate the good teamwork. What motivates me in working on the projects is that we contribute to a more comfortable use of the buildings. Comfort is related to global warming (summer heat insulation) and the ever-increasing density and its noise development in the building itself (sound insulation and room acoustics).»

«The highly specialized expertise within G+P enabled me to train in-house as an acoustician. Today, I am happy to pass on this knowledge to new employees. I experience a great openness and willingness to help each other within the team and between the specialist teams. In this way, everyone contributes to maintaining and further developing G+P's high level of professional competence.»

«What I appreciate about G+P is the extremely broad field of activity, which ranges from normal project work to conference participation and international research collaboration. Likewise, I think it's great that the coffee break can be actively used to compare current conditions in the mountains, which creates a welcome balance between work and free time.»

«What I appreciate most about G+P is the wide range of building physics topics that we are able to deal with on a daily basis as part of an outstanding team. It is a personal concern of mine to support and accompany our customers every day on their way to greater energy efficiency and sustainability. In this way, I can make a personal contribution to a ‘greener’ world of tomorrow, both for the general public and for my two small children, for whom I have plenty of time thanks to my ‘daddy day’ and 80% workload.»
