SonRAIL and SLIP: When Technology Creates Calm

SonRAIL and SLIP: When Technology Creates Calm

Noise is one of the most significant burdens in the vicinity of railway lines. For local residents, it means restless nights and a reduced quality of life. For project managers, noise is a sensitive factor that influences the acceptance of a project and helps determine how smoothly approval procedures run. Anyone planning railway infrastructure today must not only measure noise, but understand it, assess it proactively and reduce it effectively. This is exactly where G+P comes in.

Recycling low-noise SDA asphalt

Over the past years, several hundred kilometres of highly effective low-noise SDA 4 road surfaces have been constructed across Switzerland. Many of these sections are now approaching an age at which replacement will soon be required. One aspect has so far received little attention: these specialised surfaces cannot be recycled as easily as conventional road materials. This issue will become increasingly relevant in the coming years. By 2030, more than 200,000 tonnes of SDA material are expected to arise and will need to be reused in a technically sound manner.

Grolimund + Partner creates added value in all areas of its offering.

We are leaders in our specialist areas of outdoor noise, road surface acoustics, building physics, software and research & development. We provide high-quality services and develop solutions that benefit people and the environment.

One year of communicating values

One year of communicating values

In January 2024, as "The New Boss", I explained in a video statement what is important to us and to me at G+P. After almost a year as the new CEO, it's time for a little look back. Our values take centre stage. Values are a key success factor, especially for SMEs like us.

«There are good reasons why I have been working at G+P since 1996: I have always been able to familiarize myself with new areas, receive further training and help build innovative solutions. During this time, my children were born and grew up – the flexibility of G+P in terms of workload and working hours was and is invaluable. I love the working atmosphere, where you can bring in and implement your own ideas, even for new work processes.»

«Every new order is an exciting challenge. I enjoy satisfying our customers' needs with our high quality standards. Regardless of whether it is a short consultation on site or a large project with complex measurements and modeling - even with more than 15 years of experience in acoustics, no project is the same and the motivation is constantly high!»

«Working with and for different clients allows me to gain insight into a wide variety of fields of activity. At G+P itself, we work in interdisciplinary teams across the various specialist areas to find solutions. The focus is often on the goal of providing more peace and quiet for the population. I also really appreciate the fact that I can work in several branches and at home, and that the PC-heavy work is always broken up by measurement work outside with the CPX drivers, alone and with office colleagues.»

«Noise pollution reduces the quality of life of those who suffer from it. My goal is to reduce them as much as possible – G+P provides me with the means to do this. Street noise and shooting noise - I have been able to develop in these areas thanks to the skills acquired in a dynamic, friendly and stimulating working environment.»

«The highly specialized expertise within G+P enabled me to train in-house as an acoustician. Today, I am happy to pass on this knowledge to new employees. I experience a great openness and willingness to help each other within the team and between the specialist teams. In this way, everyone contributes to maintaining and further developing G+P's high level of professional competence.»

«On the pulse of time in times of climate change – this makes the work at G+P both interesting and diverse. In addition, a very motivated team of well-trained specialists who complement each other very well and who bring the current state of knowledge of building physics into practice. The whole thing is rounded off by a really good team spirit and progressive boundary conditions, which is why I feel very comfortable here.»

«Working as a noise protection engineer has opened my eyes to the various impacts of noise on people's health. At G+P, I have the opportunity to work in a young and dynamic company, and I can take part in the fight against noise pollution, actively contributing to the well-being of the Swiss population through the realisation of varied and exciting projects.»

«As part of the pavement acoustics team, I carry out acoustic measurements throughout Switzerland and evaluate the measurement results in the office. In doing so, I particularly appreciate the thematic reference to my geography studies. In addition, unlike many of my fellow students, the combination of my professional activities and my studies was made extremely easy for me by the possibility of flexible working hours, for which I am extremely grateful.»
