Construction site noise as Internet of Things (IoT) - Schulhausplatz Baden

On August 18, 2018, the redesigned schoolhouse square in Baden will be officially opened after a 3-year construction period. During the entire construction period, Grolimund + Partner operated the corresponding noise monitoring

Construction site noise as Internet of Things (IoT) - Schulhausplatz Baden

The measurements were an important tool for monitoring and minimizing construction noise, for preserving evidence (how great was the disturbance really at that time), and for communication.
The measurement results were automatically evaluated and continuously published on the Internet. The core of the evaluation was the identification of highly disturbing events as a function of traffic noise exposure. Thanks to this method, which was specially developed for the project, it was possible to document the disturbing effects of the construction site in a simple and transparent manner. The method has proven itself and will certainly be further developed in new projects.

Low-noise road surfaces – Complete advice from a single source

Nowadays, a road surface must not only fulfil safety aspects. It should also be as cheap and durable as possible, be able to withstand the emerging traffic load and cause as little noise as possible in densely built-up Switzerland. Low-noise road surfaces are often a good choice here. However, the enforcement authorities responsible for the roads are repeatedly confronted with the following questions: How noisy is the existing pavement? Which low-noise pavement is optimal on which road section? How effective is the newly installed low-noise pavement? Is there potential for optimisation? Grolimund und Partner provides answers to these questions.

Complex noise situation – G+P measures train noise from Lausanne marshalling yard

Lausanne-Triage station is the most important marshalling yard in western Switzerland. More than 60 km of tracks have been laid since the 1960s. Braking, shunting, impacts and the squeaking of wheels on the tracks are loud and disturb the residents despite the noise reduction measures already taken. G+P was able to measure this noise and identify possible improvements.
